To search for ALL of your chosen words in a judgment, type your words into the search bar, or use AND between the words (in capital letters). For example, entering civil liability or civil AND liability into the search bar will search for judgments containing both the words civil and liability. Entering civil liability oil or civil AND liability AND oil will search for judgments containing all three words.
To search for ANY of your chosen words in a judgment, type the words into the search bar using OR between them (in capital letters). For example, entering civil OR liability into the search bar will search for judgments containing either civil or liability or both words. Entering civil OR liability OR oil will search for judgments containing any or some or all of these three words.
To EXCLUDE a chosen word, type a minus (-) in front of the word that you wish to exclude (leaving no space between the minus and the word). For example, entering civil liability -oil or civil AND liability -oil into the search bar will search for judgments containing the words civil and liability, but not the word oil. Entering civil OR liability -oil will search for judgments containing any or both of the first two words, but not the third.
To search for an EXACT PHRASE, enclose it in inverted commas. For example, entering "bail or other security" into the search bar will search for judgments containing that exact phrase. You can also combine phrases with search operators. For example, "bail or other security" AND "Arrest Convention 1952" will search for judgments containing both phrases. Entering "bail or other security" -"Arrest Convention 1952" will search for judgments containing the first phrase but not the second.
In addition, the FILTERS can be used as an easy way to limit your search. For example, entering security into the search bar and clicking on the Arrest Convention 1952 filter button will limit the results to judgments on the Arrest Convention 1952 that contain that word. Entering "bail or other security" into the search bar and clicking on the Arrest Convention 1952 filter button will limit the results to judgments on the Arrest Convention 1952 that contain that phrase.
The FILTERS can also be used cumulatively to limit your search of words or phrases even further. For example:
On the ADVANCED SEARCH page, you can also limit your search to specific Convention articles. For example, entering security or "bail or other security" into the search bar and clicking on the 7 button under the Arrest Convention 1952 will limit the results to judgments on art 7 of the Arrest Convention 1952 which contain that word or phrase. You can also click on multiple Convention article buttons to limit your search to more than one relevant Convention article.
